In Acts 2:42-47, we see that the early church's life together wasn't confined to Sunday mornings only. In the same way, our desire as a church is to encourage one another to love and good deeds throughout the week (Heb. 10:24-25). Faithful discipleship requires time. Here are some of the ways our faith family spends time together so that we can faithfully disciple one another. We would love to have you join us at one of these discipleship opportunities!
Our community groups focus on fellowship, prayer, and the study of God’s word and are open to anyone who would like to attend. We are taking a break from community groups during the summer months, but plan to relaunch them in the Fall.
Parenting Book Study - Parents in our church are invited to participate in an on-going book study on the topic of parenting, using the book Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that Can Radically Change Your Family by Paul Tripp. In his book, Tripp reminds us that parents are to be ambassadors of God’s grace in the lives of their children. This is a high calling and it often seems overwhelming! But our God provides us with the grace we need to do what we otherwise could not do. And God has also given us the church to help us in this vital area of our discipleship. This group will meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. The time together will include fellowship, discussion, prayer, and occasionally, a meal. If you would like to know more about this group, please contact Peter at 757.897.3345.
Ladies Theological Book Club
This summer, the ladies of CFCW will be doing a Bible study on the book of of Hosea. Ladies will have the option of meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 or on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00. Both groups will meeting in the CFCW addition of the church (where our children meet on Sundays for Truth Seekers). This is a great opportunity for women in our church to enjoy sweet fellowship and to grow in their knowledge of God.
The first meeting for each group will be June 6th (Tuesday) and June 7th (Wednesday) for an introduction and ice breakers (no previous reading required). The Tuesday night group will meet again the following week but will break on July 4th. The Wednesday morning group will not meet on June 14th, but will resume and meet every week thereafter. The study is an 8-week study and will conclude on August 8th/9th.
If you are interested in joining the study, please contact Sheri Coker (firstname.lastname@example.org). Books can be purchased directly from Sheri for $5.
Corporate Prayer Service
Prayer is evidence of dependence upon God. Our church gathers the first Sunday evening of every month from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for a time of inductive bible study and corporate prayer. The first half of the time is spent in an inductive bible study of a book of the bible. Our goal is that those who participate will be equipped with the tools they need to do fruitful inductive bible studies on their own. The second half of the time is spent in guided prayer. We pray for for our church and for the advance of the Gospel in our community and among the nations. All are invited to attend.
